who are we?

FEDEA is a research centre which was set up to produce quality, objective and independent economic analysis. Our aim is to foster effective economic and social proposals through an understanding of their implications for individuals, families and businesses in Spain.

- Go to "Why Fedea"?

Back in 1985, a group of institutions decided to create FEDEA as a Foundation, i.e a non-profit body. The Foundation’s operating funds come from contributions from Sponsors, the return on investment of its assets and from projects commissioned by national and international bodies.

FEDEA’s research agenda has been shaped to reflect the problems faced by Spanish society down the years. During the early years, issues relating to the labour market, pensions and economic development accounted for a substantial part of the work undertaken by our researchers. Today however, topics concerning innovation, the environment and immigration receive more attention. Research at Fedea is grouped into Research Programmes, which are given the name Research Chairs if they are funded by a Sponsor.
