FEDEA invites economists to spend time at the Foundation as visiting researchers in order to forge closer ties with Fedea personnel or to establish a basis for common projects.
Visitors Programme
Down the years, stays by visiting researchers have proven to be an effective means of giving visitors an opportunity to focus on their work and, at the same time, commence new research initiatives. In the coming years we hope to extend the programme by increasing the number of visitors.
Stays at Fedea
edea affords a unique research environment in the centre of Madrid. Visitors have access to researchers engaged in quality work, as well as to research assistants who are highly trained in empirical research and to resources and the main data bases.
Visitors normally stay at Fedea for one semester (18 weeks), although there are no fixed rules and the length of stay can be adapted to needs or conditions.
A visit is usually tied to the performance of work with the Foundation’s researchers or the establishment of a basis for future cooperation.
Visiting researchers normally present a paper at a seminar and attend other seminars which are organised fortnightly at Fedea (Mondays, 13.30 to 15.30). In some cases, additional monographic sessions are organised if they considered to be of special interest for the training of research assistants and interns.
Visitors are given their own fully-equipped office, including a computer with the standard programmes required for research, an e-mail account if necessary and access to printing, photocopying, internet and a telephone.
Expenses and accommodation
Visitors normally cover their own subsistence and accommodation costs. Fedea provides help in finding accommodation: we have details of comfortable apartments near the Foundation which have been used by previous visitors. It is strongly recommended that visitors submit their application in good time (one year in advance where possible), particularly in the case of foreign visitors, if funding is being sought. Fedea may cover costs in full or in part or request institutions with visitor programmes to fund the cost of a visit.
Location
Fedea is located in a typical apartment in Madrid’s fashionable Salamanca district. Within walking distance, through the city’s biggest Park (the Retiro), are the seminars held in CEMFI and in the Bank of Spain. Close by also are the Prado Museum and the Thyssen art collection. The city’s main train station and airport are just 20 minutes and 45 minutes away, respectively.
If you are interested, please send us a brief description of the reasons for your proposed stay, together with a CV, to the following address: convocatorias@fedea.es
